SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 12 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) –

A warm reception was extended by the Tenerife Island Council to the participants of the global expedition ‘Inti’ on Sunday. Greeted by the Councillor for Youth and Training, Serafín Mesa, and the island’s director of the Natural Environment, Pedro Millán, a total of 125 expedition members from La Palma and Morocco were welcomed.

The young individuals had the opportunity to explore the history, functioning, and significance of the artistic heritage of the Cabildo de Tenerife, visiting the Plenary Hall and the Noble Hall.

Serafín Mesa elaborated that more than a hundred young people from various parts of the world “will spend a week on our island immersing themselves in our natural surroundings, ecosystem, culture, and idiosyncrasy. Furthermore, they will participate in diverse environmental conservation activities on our land.”

The arrival of the participants in the global expedition ‘Inti’ coincided with the series of events organised by the Youth and Training department of the Island Corporation in honour of International Youth Day, observed on Monday, 12 August.

In connection with this, Serafín Mesa highlighted that, in celebration of this occasion, the Cabildo has lined up over 160 activities for this month. The programme, under the theme ‘International Youth Month. It’s you, it’s young’, encompasses workshops, talks, leisure pursuits, exhibitions, outdoor events, excursions, and other engagements.

“The goal of the programme is to furnish young people in Tenerife with an array of alternatives to make the most of their leisure time in a rewarding and constructive manner. This initiative not only marks International Youth Day but also strives to stimulate the active involvement of young individuals in the cultural and social life of the island, fostering their personal and professional growth,” stated Mesa.
