The Conservative Party (PP), the Portuense Citizen Assembly (ACP) and the Canary Islands Coalition (CC) have announced the division of specific responsibilities among each group once the vote of no confidence in the Puerto de la Cruz City Council is completed, along with ten specific commitments, including the regularization of waste management and a housing pool.

The agreement, released to the press on Monday, outlines that the Conservative Party will oversee General Administration, Internal Regulations and Police; Treasury, Public Procurement, Heritage and Human Resources; Tourism and Cultural Promotion; Social Action, Education, Youth and Animal Welfare; Costa Martiánez Complex, Beaches, Parking, Cemeteries, and Museum Board; Festival, Market and Technological Development; Education, Youth, Children, Seniors, and Disability.

On the other hand, Coalición Canaria will be in charge of General Services and Commercial Development; Commerce, Industry, Primary Sector, and Crafts.

Meanwhile, ACP will handle Urban Planning, Public Works, Environment and Sustainability, Mobility and Accessibility, Employment, Sports, Health and Drug Addiction, Citizen Participation, Taxi, Health, Consumption, Equality, and LGTBIQ+ Policies.

The vote on the motion of no confidence is scheduled for Friday, August 16, which will result in the removal of socialist Marco González, who previously governed in coalition with ACP, from office.

The allocation of temporary staff to each group has also been decided, allowing PP to appoint three trusted individuals, ACP three more, and CC one.

The agreement also includes an annual update of employees’ salaries based on the CPI and a commitment to mutual support for the initiatives proposed by each group, subject to prior agreement.

A monitoring committee will be established to oversee compliance with the agreements among the three parties. The document also specifies that wedding ceremonies involving councillors should follow functional criteria and be organised on a weekly basis by all.

It also mandates that any public announcements, presentations, or inaugurals events of initiatives should be carried out by the relevant political force, with attendance at events requiring prior communication in good faith and as far in advance as possible.

A significant section of the agreement, spanning 5 out of 25 pages, deals with media and social network outreach, emphasising equal access for all three groups to the City Council’s social media profiles and the municipal Telegram channel. The pact prohibits interference in the content and prominence of the governing partner by any of the three formations.

Specific commitments also cover the urgent provision of resources to the City Council’s contracting department, staffing of qualified personnel for municipal archives, and the completion of the employee and civil servant stabilization process.

The proposal calls for the regularization of all expired concessions, particularly in municipal waste management, specifically at Playa Jardín, as well as allocating resources for project implementation. Other issues addressed include the establishment of a municipal integration company, transferring the archive, hiring external legal services for administrative support, and replacing children’s beauty contests with children’s galas.

In terms of transportation, proposals include modifying or extending intercity bus lines through Botánico and La Vera. Additionally, development projects involve promoting green infrastructure, creating a square at the old bus station, constructing two social housing units, renovating the Miguel Ángel Díaz pavilion, conducting comprehensive actions at the six sports centres in Puerto de la Cruz, and renovating the wrestling ground, among other measures.
