SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 10th August (EUROPA PRESS) –
An investigation by the Civil Guard’s Investigation Area of the Main Post of Playa de las Américas has led to the questioning of a 42-year-old man from Adeje (Tenerife) for three alleged crimes involving fraud, misappropriation, and falsification of license plates. The man is suspected of obtaining over 15,000 euros from the sale of vehicles and spare parts that were never delivered to the buyers.
The Civil Guard revealed that the probe was initiated following several complaints. Three victims reported that they had paid the accused significant sums of money for the purchase or sale of vehicles and parts he claimed he would bring from Germany to the Canary Islands. However, upon the arrival of the vehicles and parts, the accused, who had the vehicles registered in his name, demanded additional payments under the threat of selling the vehicle to another party if the requested sum was not provided.
During the investigation, it was discovered that one of the victims, who refused to make the second payment, had their vehicle sold and transferred to a third party on the island of La Gomera.
Furthermore, another vehicle that was not delivered to the buyer was found in a workshop awaiting repairs, with an outstanding bill of 1,668.93 euros yet to be settled.
Further investigations revealed that the suspect had tampered with the export license plates of both vehicles by falsifying them. This involved altering the expiration dates on the red stickers of the plates obtained from Germany to extend the period allowed for driving the vehicles in Spain.
As a result of the conducted inquiries, the authorities have gathered sufficient leads and evidence pointing to the alleged involvement of the suspect in the crimes. The case has been referred to the Court of Guard and Instruction of Arona for further action.
