Starting at midday on Thursday, August 8, the sale of tickets for Arona Trade Bonds 2024 will kick off via the platform yocomproenarona.com. The initiative is being spearheaded by the Arona City Council under the Department of Economic Promotion, Employment and Primary Sector, led by Dácil León, in collaboration with the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (FAUCA).

A total of 12,500 bonds are up for grabs as part of this programme aimed at boosting local spending and fostering the growth and vibrancy of Arona’s local businesses. These bonds can be redeemed in participating stores for double their value. The initiative benefits from a direct municipal subsidy of up to 250,000 Euros, which will cover half of the cost of the vouchers being offered.

Each individual can purchase a maximum of 10 vouchers at a price of 20 Euros each. These vouchers can be redeemed until November 30, 2024, or until stocks last, for twice the value in purchases.

Over 100 stores from across the municipality have joined the Arona Trade Voucher campaign, each with a maximum redemption limit of 4,000 Euros per voucher. The participating establishments range from electronics, IT, and telecommunications to home goods, decor, and DIY; from toy shops and party supplies to fashion, sports, accessories, and even beauty and hairdressing services.

Emphasising the importance of this voucher initiative, Dácil León, Councillor for Economic Promotion and Employment, highlights that not only does it stimulate the local economy and greatly benefit family spending, but it also acts as a significant platform that showcases and enhances the value of local businesses.

She also underscores the excellent customer service, wide product range, competitive prices, job creation, and economic contribution of local businesses. According to her, such campaigns help consumers realise that the range of stores in Arona is just as appealing as larger retail chains.

To ensure a fair distribution of the Trade Bonds budget among all participants, this year’s programme stipulates that businesses with multiple branches within the municipality are limited to registering two outlets.

Another new aspect introduced in the latest edition of this successful initiative is the requirement for individuals or businesses applying to the Arona 2024 Trade Bonus Program to furnish documentation certifying compliance with tax obligations, particularly with Social Security, the Canary Islands Tax Agency, the State Tax Agency, and the Arona City Council.
