SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 7 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The government of the Canary Islands, via the Directorate General of Immigration, has earmarked 170,398 Euros this year for emergency humanitarian assistance for Canarians residing in Argentina, Cuba and Venezuela.

The Director General of Emigration, José Téllez, has highlighted that the economic conditions in these countries “limit many Canarians from leading a decent life due to the inflationary processes they are going through, as well as the cost of healthcare, specialised treatments, and basic services.”

To mitigate this situation, Cuba has provided aid totalling 15,000 Euros, distributed as 75 grants of 200 Euros each for individuals over 80 years old, and 350 general grants amounting to 70,000 Euros in total. The latter are part of the Extraordinary Aid Plan for Canarians in Cuba.

In addition, in Venezuela, 51 grants have been awarded, amounting to 75,398 Euros, to cover basic necessities or to support surgical interventions.

Meanwhile, in Argentina, a monthly provision of food boxes is being supplied from May to December to 30 Canarians, as they are unable to afford their basic needs due to inflation. The total sum allocated for this assistance is 10,000 Euros.

Additional information on these emergency humanitarian aids can be found on the General Directorate of Immigration website at https://www3.gobiernodecanarias.org/aplicaciones/sentircanario/ayudas/sentircanario.com.
