The Annual Youth Art Fair on the Streets will take place on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October in the streets of the historic centre of The Orotava as usual. Over five hundred young artists will participate in various artistic disciplines including painting, dance, theatre, music, photography, graffiti, monologues, robotics, caricatures, puppets, and mime.

The Youth Department of the La Orotava City Council, led by Darío Afonso, has announced the CreaArte competition for designing the advertising posters. Young individuals aged between 12 and 35 who are passionate about design and creativity can enter this competition. Submissions close on 7th September, with a prize of €200 for the winner.

Entries can be submitted to the Town Hall’s General Registry between 08:00 to 13:00 hours, by appointment, by delivering an envelope containing the work and personal details. Entries should be marked for the Youth Delegate Council and the CreArte Competition. Alternatively, entries can be sent by regular mail to Excmo. Ayuntamiento de La Orotava; Casa de la Juventud, Calle León 9, 38300; La Orotava, S/C de Tenerife; or by email to youth@villadelaorotava.org attaching the necessary information and the work.

The theme and composition of the entries must relate to Arte Joven en la Calle 2024 and include the city council’s logos provided by the Youth Centre. The activity’s location, date, and time should also be included. Each participant can submit a maximum of two original works, which have not received awards in other competitions. Any design technique is acceptable, with the file to be submitted in JPEG format with sufficient resolution for printing. Reproduction of the winning work will be done while respecting the original author’s work, with any modifications consulted with the author.

Arte Joven en la Calle has become a significant event in Tenerife and the Canary Islands, setting a trend since its inception in 2000. It provides a platform for young individuals to showcase their creativity and artistry, attracting a wide audience who come to experience this cultural event in the historic town setting, becoming a true art exhibition.

The town council encourages young residents to participate in the competition to promote the fair. The objective is to engage the youth in municipal activities and highlight their creative abilities.

The jury will consist of individuals appointed by the Youth Council who will make decisions based on the competition rules. Young members from youth associations and past participants will also be part of the jury. The decision will be final, with the right to declare the competition void if no entry meets the criteria.
