SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 6th August (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Committee for Peace in Tenerife has officially acknowledged Nicolás Maduro’s “undeniable victory” in the recent elections and has called for peace in Venezuela amid the “imperialist aggression” the country is currently facing.
In a press release, the Tenerife Peace Committee has denounced what they describe as a “genuine attempt at a cyber coup d’état and street violence to destabilise” the Venezuelan electoral process, which has been under “constant attack with the aim of undermining the project of constructing a sovereign state for the working class and other popular sectors of Venezuela.”
They firmly assert that Nicolás Maduro’s victory, “by a majority of over a million votes,” is indisputable, as confirmed by the National Electoral Council (CNE), which is the “sole authorised body to provide the final verdict” on the electoral process. They highlight the “enormous media terrorism operation” unleashed by those on the extreme right in Venezuela who had been alleging fraud months before the elections.
The continuous campaign to “disregard” the sovereignty of the Venezuelan people, according to the Committee, is leading Venezuela to become a “puppet of the empire,” as it has now become a rallying cry across the political spectrum from the extreme right to social democrats and former progressives who are now echoing it like parrots.
Lastly, the Tenerife Peace Committee, which opposes the “war-like strategy” of NATO and the EU in Ukraine and shows “solidarity with the Palestinian people against criminal Zionism,” believes it is crucial to confront the defense of the Venezuelan revolutionary process “with equal force,” without any external interference, guidance, or ongoing assaults on its socialist path.
