Labour Inspectorate Sanctions Metropolitano de Tenerife

Metropolitano de Tenerife has been fined by the Labour Inspectorate for consistently disregarding the internal operational rules of the health and safety committee, which is responsible for investigating traffic accidents and incidents, as reported by Comisiones Obreras.

The union stated in a press release that the creation of these regulations was part of the agreement that resolved the strike in 2023. However, the company has demonstrated a clear intention to violate these regulations from the start, a trend that has continued over time, according to CCOO.

Upon bringing this issue to the attention of the Labour Inspectorate, the regulatory body overseeing and inspecting working conditions has sided with the employees on this matter, a demand that is part of the ongoing dispute between the workers and the company.

The Federation of Citizen Services of the Canary Islands Workers’ Commissions is optimistic that with the Labour Inspectorate’s decision, Metropolitano de Tenerife will commit to complying with the regulations and actively investigate accidents, incidents, and work-related illnesses within the Safety and Health Committee.
