SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 3 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Vallehermoso will be the venue for the seventh edition of the Festival of Stories from August 8 to 11, themed ‘Leap into color, stories from India’. The aim is to immerse the audience in the vibrant and diverse Indian culture, making La Gomera the focal point of oral storytelling.

The Festival will commence with a series of ‘Travelling Tales’ targeted at families. The first session will be held at the El Cercado Social Centre on Thursday 8 August at 6:00 pm with the performance ‘When the City Sleeps’ by Isabel Bolívar. This unique show integrates stories, theatre and music, inviting the audience to explore the magic of the night through narratives that transcend boundaries.

On Friday 9 August, the Plaza de la Iglesia de San Juan will witness a storytelling session for families at 8:00 pm titled ‘Cuentos de colores’, presented by Isabel Bolívar and Miguel Ángel Granados. This interactive session will be engaging and lively, with each story associated with a different colour and active participation of the audience in stories, games and challenges.

Later that night, starting at 9:00 p.m., the Church Square will transform into a family-youth celebration named ‘Salto al color’. Drawing inspiration from the Indian festival of ‘Holi’, this event celebrates diversity, peace and harmony by throwing coloured powders that will adorn the attendees, who are encouraged to wear white attire. The celebration will feature DJ entertainment, accompanied by artistic makeup by Karol Karoline.

On Saturday 10 August at 11.00 am, a workshop on ornamentation titled ‘Rangoli, the carpet of good luck’ will take place in the square in front of the Church of San Juan, led by Karol Karoline. Participants will create a geometric tapestry on the ground with ornamental patterns that, in accordance with Indian belief, attract good luck and prosperity.

At 12 noon, at the Alojera Social Centre, Silvia Torrents and Óscar Tiraida will showcase ‘Time Tells Everything’. This presentation of stories and live music will feature ancient tales, some originating from India, intertwined with contemporary narratives, illustrating the passage of time.

The same Saturday at 9.30pm, a parade and multidisciplinary performance will mark the culmination of the Festival in the Town Hall Square and the Church Square. Titled the Festival of Light, this event will showcase acts by MiArteFactor, oral narrations by Fabio González, Isabel Bolívar, Laura Expósito, Miguel Ángel Granados, Silvia Torrents, music by Óscar Tiraida, makeup by Karol Karoline and illustrations by Arón Morales. The spectacle will commemorate Indian legends, traditions, landscapes, monuments and cuisine, honouring the triumph of light over darkness.

The Festival will draw to a close on Sunday 11 August at 12 noon at the Chipude Social Centre, where the family workshop ‘Pearls of the East’ will be conducted by Laura Expósito and Fabio González. This workshop blends stories with relaxation, focus and meditation techniques inspired by Eastern practices, with the objective of fostering inner growth.
