Yesterday, the Arona branch of PSOE raised concerns about the state of the Punta de Viento car park in Las Galletas. They highlighted the presence of abandoned and partially dismantled vehicles, homeless individuals living in poor conditions inside these vehicles, garbage, excrement, and debris.
Frank Tolle, a representative of the Socialist Group and the leading party in the council, expressed disappointment in the handling of the situation by the ruling coalition (comprising PP, CC, and Más por Arona). He mentioned the complaints lodged by residents and business owners, accusing the authorities of indifference.
According to the councillor, both the car park and its surroundings are in an unacceptable state. The lack of maintenance and care is evident in the condition of street furniture like wooden planters and signs.
PSOE is demanding prompt action, urging adherence to urban planning and environmental laws to prevent further deterioration of the area, where living conditions are progressively worsening.
In a statement issued yesterday, the councillor described the space as a hub for vehicle scrapping, lamenting its transformation into a dilapidated environment filled with abandoned cars, makeshift workshops, and debris. The councillor expressed concern that this unattractive setting is tarnishing the image of the tourist hub and its many commercial establishments.
