The political party Coalición Canaria (CC) in Tenerife has given the green light to the nationalist party in Puerto de la Cruz to participate in the motion of no confidence against the current mayor, Marcos González. The document, which will be submitted this Thursday morning at the Puerto de la Cruz City Hall, is signed by CC, Partido Popular (PP), and Asamblea Ciudadana Portuense (ACP), who were previously governing partners of the PSOE.
“After the left-wing agreement in Puerto de la Cruz since 2019 was broken, the city needed a new agreement to provide a stable government for the remaining three years until 2027,” stated the Insular Executive, adding: “our local organization led by Alonso Acevedo has reached an agreement to be part of a new coalition government, setting aside ideologies with a beneficial government programme for Puerto de la Cruz.”
Yesterday, the Asamblea Ciudadana de Puerto de la Cruz met to discuss the suitability of breaking ties with their current government partners and supporting a vote of no confidence that, if successful, would see the popular Leopoldo Afonso become the next mayor of Puerto de la Cruz. If all administrative deadlines required by law are met, the vote of no confidence will be debated on August 16 in a special session at the Puerto de la Cruz City Hall.
