SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 1st August (EUROPA PRESS) –
The 6th Helicopter Maneuver Battalion (BHELMA VI) is taking part in mountain surveillance patrols on the island of Tenerife to prevent fires and support civil authorities.
Aside from its aviation capabilities, BHELMA VI also possesses various general capabilities at the disposal of the Canary Islands Command. It is involved in contributing to public safety by assisting civil authorities, particularly in fire prevention missions. The battalion is participating in ‘Operation Sentinel Tenerife’ on the island of Tenerife, as per a statement from the Canary Islands Command.
As part of this operation, BHELMA VI conducts ground patrols using vehicles to carry out surveillance tasks in the island’s forests. They also act as a deterrent to potential arsonists who threaten the natural heritage of the region.
This mission highlights that the unit’s personnel are “ready to serve Spain both in the air and on land”, as per the motto of the Army Aviation Academy: “sicut in coelo et in terra”.
The “blue berets” patrol the mountains of Tenerife to ensure security in natural areas, underscoring once more the commitment to service of BHELMA VI, beyond just their helicopters.
