The Arrival of a Swell in Tenerife: Precautionary Measures Advised

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 30th July (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Tenerife Island Council has suggested that several towns in the southern part of the island should take preventive actions due to the impending swell wave expected today, Tuesday, and tomorrow, Wednesday, affecting sections of the west, south, and east coast of the island. The municipalities that could be most impacted by the swell include Guía de Isora, Adeje, Arona, San Miguel de Abona, and Granadilla de Abona.

Cabildo’s president, Rosa Dávila, stated that the available reports foresee the arrival of the swell today, urging the population to exercise extreme caution when approaching the coast and adhere to the authorities’ directives.

The sea condition forecast predicts the approach of a swell in the Canary Islands, with Tenerife expecting an increase in swell by the end of the day. The forecast anticipates waves of one metre today and one and a half metres tomorrow. Furthermore, it is expected to cause alterations in sea currents and drag in bathing areas, necessitating the implementation of precautionary measures by the municipalities. The swell in Tenerife is expected to diminish by Thursday, 1st August.
