SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 29th July (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Tenerife Island Council has reactivated the Mechanical Treatment Plant at the Arico Environmental Complex, earlier than expected, and has resumed its activities since last Friday, as stated by the Minister of Natural Environment, Sustainability, Security and Emergencies, Blanca Pérez. She highlighted that the plant has recommenced operations “in a remarkably short time” and expressed gratitude for the efforts of the entire Waste area team in achieving this.
The Waste Director of the island, Alejandro Molowny, highlighted the enhancements made, such as the installation of new electrical panels, comprehensive repairs, and the incorporation of new equipment which will transform it “into a more advanced plant capable of recovering much higher quantities of waste than before, as the recovery rate was previously at an all-time low of approximately 3%.”
Alejandro Molowny expressed appreciation for the dedication and commitment of the staff, including “both the public employees of the Cabildo and the awarded service companies and subcontractors, for completing this task within an exceptionally short timeframe.” He added, “The reactivation of the Mechanical Treatment Plant will result in a rapid increase in recycling rates due to the presence of a more contemporary and upgraded facility.”
