SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 27 July (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Summer University of La Gomera will kick off on Monday and run until Wednesday, offering various courses in the towns of Agulo, Alajeró, and Valle Gran Rey. There are still available spots that can be secured through the following link: [University of La Gomera Summer Courses](https://www.ull.es/cultura/cursos-extension-universitaria/universidad-de-verano-de-la-gomera/)

Additionally, the closing lecture of this edition of the educational initiative supported by the Cabildo and the University of La Laguna will feature six courses in different venues across the six municipalities, as well as a public presentation of two doctoral theses by La Gomera students.

The Benedicto Negrín Auditorium in Agulo will be the venue for the course ‘Prevention of suicidal behaviour in children and adolescents’. This course will delve into identifying personal, family, and contextual factors contributing to suicidal behaviour in young individuals. Participants will learn to recognise risk factors related to suicidal behaviour and develop the necessary skills to enhance protective factors.

The course ‘Master the future: fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence’ will be held at the Auditorium of the Alajeró Town Hall and will provide insights into the basics of artificial intelligence. Participants will understand the primary models of Artificial Intelligence, learn to utilise chat-based generative intelligence tools such as ChatGPT, Google Bard, Bing Chat, and present Artificial Intelligence applications in various sectors.

Lastly, the Casa de la Cultura in Valle Gran Rey will host the course ‘Pedagogy of emotions in the teaching-learning process’, aimed at familiarising with and comprehending the pedagogy of emotions and its impact on the teaching-learning process. The goal is to develop and apply emotional management techniques with students to enhance emotional well-being.

The University of La Laguna, in collaboration with the Vice-Rectorate for Culture and University Outreach, will issue a certificate of attendance to participants who complete a minimum of 80% of the in-person course hours. Furthermore, those who successfully complete the independent student work will receive a certificate of attendance and achievement, along with an ECTS credit.

The programme will conclude with a closing lecture scheduled for Tuesday, 30 July, at 8:00 p.m. in the Cabildo’s Plenary Hall. The speaker, Wenceslao Peñate, will delve into Mental health, an agenda for the 21st century. Wenceslao Peñate Castro is a University Professor specialising in Personality, Evaluation, and Psychological Treatment. He is affiliated with the Department of Clinical Psychology, Psychobiology, and Methodology, as well as the University Institute of Neuroscience at the University of La Laguna. Since 2021, he has been the director of the Psychological and Speech Therapy Service Unit at the University of La Laguna.
