The head of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, expressed her delight on Friday over Tenerife’s “emerging as a frontrunner in employment generation and unemployment decline in the Canary Islands” following the addition of 18,500 new positions in the past year, as per data from the Active Population Survey (EPA) for the second quarter of this year. The joblessness rate stands at 13.7%, the lowest in the last two decades, reverting to levels seen before the significant economic downturn that occurred between 2007 and 2009.
