Tomorrow, the Los Campitos neighbourhood in the Anaga district is set to celebrate its annual traditional pilgrimage in honour of the Virgin of Carmen. This unique event in the municipality of Santa Cruz is a vibrant gathering filled with local traditions and folklore. Festivities kick off at 6:00 p.m. starting from Lomo Las Casillas, culminating at CEIP Los Campitos, where an extravagant party awaits featuring live music from Orquesta Acapulco and Clase Aparte.
This 43rd edition will see the participation of 15 decorative carts, three boats, two cars, nine folklore groups, and herds of goats. Over five hundred attendees are expected to grace the event, adding to the festive spirit.
Credit goes to the Anaga district office and the Mobility area for making this celebration possible. They have arranged for a dedicated bus service to transport participants from the school to the pilgrimage’s starting point. Buses will depart every 15 minutes between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., ensuring everyone can easily join in the fun.
Santa Cruz’s Mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, encourages all citizens to take part in this event that “proudly upholds our municipality’s traditions through folklore.” Joining in on the invitation is Anaga district councillor, Gladis de León, who urges everyone to dress appropriately and immerse themselves in both the pilgrimage and the subsequent festivities.
