A collaborative effort by the Urban Consortium for the Tourist Revitalisation of Puerto de la Cruz, comprising the Cabildo, the Government of the Canary Islands, and the City Council, has successfully concluded the enhancement project for Tegueste Street in the Punta Brava district.
During a visit to the area, Vice President of the Cabildo, Lope Afonso, emphasised that the project, with a budget of 1,150,141 Euros, “has brought about the revitalisation and improvement of this section along the waterfront in Punta Brava, transforming it into a promenade for the enjoyment of residents and visitors.” Afonso highlighted that “the completion of this street is a significant milestone, marking the end of a lengthy process that began with the collapse of a section of the cliff along the Punta Brava coast. After years of dedicated work, today we witness the promenade in its full splendour following the extensive refurbishment, creating a new recreational space for the community and enhancing our tourist destination, thus bolstering promotion and offerings for local businesses. Today is a remarkable day, and we are extremely pleased.”
The project primarily focused on the comprehensive restoration of the road and its amenities, aiming to revitalise this coastal area that had gradually deteriorated over time. It also encompassed the enhancement of essential services linked to street improvement, such as sewage and stormwater management systems, water supply, irrigation network, and public lighting. The renovation extended throughout Calle Tegueste, spanning approximately 300 metres from the square adjacent to Calle Pelinor to the steps leading up to the chapel near the TF-316.
