The Urban Planning Management of the Santa Cruz City Council issued a resolution yesterday in relation to the emergency situation declared on the Camino de La Ermita, in the La Salud neighborhood, in view of the imminent risk of detachment from the slope over the homes 9, 11 and 13. A resolution that will be communicated to the court today, once a response has been given to the appeals presented by the residents to the municipal eviction order, and which have been rejected, as they did not provide any technical report that contradicted the document of the Consistory that determines that there is danger for those neighbors.
As confirmed to DIARIO DE AVISOS the Councilor for Urbanism, Carlos Tarife, the communication to the court will be made early today. The mayor also explained that this situation will be transferred to the Government of the Canary Islands and to the Cabildo, specifically, to the Insular Water Council, as these houses are found on rustic land and on the slope of the Barranco de Santos.
Regarding the refusal of the neighbors to leave their homes, Tarife described their attitude as “absolutely irresponsible in the face of what is a devastating report, because life is above the house.”

He stated that it is “a penalty that you have to go to court” when it comes to a situation of risk and danger. He also revealed that these houses “are illegal”, and that the City Council, the Cabildo and the Canarian Government will open a file so that all these families that are in rustic hydrological protection land can be relocated in the medium and long term, taking into account “Your financial situation.” “They are in danger and they always run it. There may be a flood and there may be a catastrophe, “said the mayor who was concerned about the rain alert situation in which Tenerife finds itself these days.

While the eviction order is being resolved in the courts, the Municipal Housing Society works to provide housing solutions for these families. He searches with the neighbors for other homes whose rents will be paid by the City Council, despite the fact that they have already been offered to move to hotels and apartments of the Municipal Institute of Social Attention.

Yesterday began with the stakeout of the enclosure of the area to be secured as well as with the first measurements. An area that since the resolution of the technical report was known was signposted to avoid the passage of pedestrians and vehicles in the area that goes from the pedestrian bridge, next to the premises of the neighborhood association, to the wastewater pumping station.
