Playa de Las Américas was recently filled with colours, flavours, aromas, and meditation during the Ratha Yatra celebrations. The event, organised by the Arona Town Council and the Tourism Board led by Dácil León in collaboration with Iskcon Tenerife, marked its thirteenth year as the Festival of India and the seventh edition of the Arona Yogafest.
The festival attracted a large crowd from the Hindu community in the southern region, as well as local residents and tourists. The strategic location of the event in the Golden Mile area of Playa de Las Américas and the diverse range of activities offered made it a significant tourist attraction, giving visitors a taste of India in the heart of Arona.
The highlight of the festival was the worship of the Chariot of the Deities. The main chariot carried the images of Jagannatha, Balarama, and Subhadra, the three main deities of the festival. This was followed by the Pooja of the Coconuts, a fire ritual aimed at dispelling negative energies, and a traditional procession that wound its way through Luis Díaz de Losada Street, Avenida de las Américas, and back.
