One of the main reasons for claiming assets to the Santa Cruz City Council by its neighbors are the falls caused by the poor condition of the city’s steelwork. Broken tiles, raised tiles, holes, subsidence… The casuistry is multiple and, in addition to the personal damages that can be caused, they also show a bad image of the city. From the PSOE they have echoed this situation in many neighborhoods of the city and will present tomorrow, in plenary, a motion for the City Council to draw up a plan for the renovation of the pavement.
According to the motion presented by the socialist mayor Florentino Guzmán Plasencia, “the lack of planning in the renovation of public roads brings with it significant contrasts, being able to find three different types of sidewalks in the same street or avenue. This contrast is greater if one compares areas of the same neighborhood, in which there are streets with the initial pavements and others whose sidewalks have been renovated numerous times ”.
In order to solve this situation, but also to coordinate these actions with the renewal of the firm or the renewal of the supply networks, it is proposed by the PSOE to carry out, first, an inventory of the streets of the city of Santa Cruz with sidewalks older than 30 years, detailing the state of conservation and maintenance in which they are.
It is also proposed to approve a plan for the renovation of sidewalks, once the previous report is available, establishing the prioritization criteria, the specific execution deadlines and the budgetary forecasts for the necessary actions. It is noted that, in cases where it is technically considered appropriate, the intervention should address the complete redevelopment of the affected street or streets. For this to be possible, it is proposed to provide a budget for the year 2022 a sufficient amount for the renovation of the most deteriorated sidewalks.
