The municipal water service management company in Arafo, Aqualia, announced three days ago that the health authorities had deemed the town’s water as “unsuitable for human consumption.” This determination was made following the discovery of Clostridium P. during the most recent analytical checks.

Water is currently only deemed acceptable for activities unrelated to drinking, like personal hygiene and general household tasks. Juan Ramón Martín Pérez, the mayor of the area, outlined the actions his administration has taken in response to the restriction.

The company is actively investigating the source of the contamination and has arranged for two tanker trucks to distribute drinking water to residents at Calle Rafael Clavijo García, 8 and in La Hidalga.

The mayor delivered a progress update, stating, “We anticipate the restriction will continue until this evening at the very least. Should the results fall within the approved parameters, we will lift the prohibition; otherwise, it will persist for another 24 hours.” He mentioned that around “30% of the population is impacted” and highlighted that water deliveries are prioritised for individuals with limited mobility.
