VALVERDE (EL HIERRO), 16 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Reports from the Health Department of the Canary Islands Government have confirmed the heartbreaking loss of a two-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man, both of whom arrived on the shores of El Hierro on Monday via a cayuco.
The young girl was urgently transferred to La Candelaria Hospital in Tenerife in critical condition, while the young man tragically passed away at El Hierro Hospital. Currently, a one-year-old infant remains in critical condition at the same hospital.
Additionally, a 30-year-old migrant was also transported to La Candelaria Hospital in a serious state on Monday afternoon.
The cayuco, having departed from the Senegalese coast a week prior, docked at the port of La Restinga on Monday morning with a group of 51 individuals of sub-Saharan descent, including six women and four minors. The vessel was located approximately 2.5 miles south of the island through radar detection.
