SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 15 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The authorities at Tenerife Island Council have confirmed that the wildfire that broke out earlier today near Mirador del Lance, in Los Realejos, has been brought under control. Currently, there are no active flames and helicopters are still working to cool the affected area.

The fire ignited around 7:15 in the morning, prompting multiple calls to the 1-1-2 emergency hotline reporting a significant smoke column in the Mirador del Lance vicinity, leading to the immediate activation of emergency response resources.

A helicopter from the Canary Islands Government and a team of twenty Brifor Operation personnel, accompanied by a fire truck, are presently engaged on site. Additionally, members from the Fire Consortium and local law enforcement are contributing to the operations.

Last Thursday, the Cabildo implemented level 1 precautions considering the prevailing meteorological conditions and the forest fire risk alert issued by the General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands for Tenerife.

These measures include a ban on lighting fires in recreational and outdoor areas – encompassing barbecues, bonfires, stoves, or gas cookers – as well as the utilization of any machinery or equipment that may produce sparks (such as brush cutters, welding gear, or radial saws) and the use of any pyrotechnic substances in high-risk zones.

Smoking is strictly forbidden in recreational zones, camping sites, trails, campsites, observatories, and other public facilities situated in mountainous regions.
