Street Celebrations for the Virgin of Carmen Kick Off in Candelaria

“Hurrah for the Virgin of Carmen!” The exclamations in honour of the matron saint of fishermen resounded yesterday in the streets of Candelaria, creating an atmosphere charged with emotion. The town of Candelaria took the lead with a procession that drew a crowd of thousands. Festivities commenced in the afternoon with a prayer and a floral tribute, followed by a stirring performance of the song “El Pescador” by local artist Fran Hernández.
