The Tenerife Council has implemented a smoking ban in natural settings for the first time. This decision was prompted by the high temperature alert and the risk of forest fires, as elucidated by Cabildo’s president, Rosa Davila through her ‘X’ profile.

The ban encompasses paths, viewpoints, forest trails, recreational spots and camping zones.

Dávila has appealed for “utmost cooperation from all Tenerife inhabitants while the alert is active,” as indicated in her statement.

The Tenerife Council banned all fires on Thursday eleven of July in outdoor recreational spaces due to the risk of forest fires. The authority also advises against entering or staying in forest zones on the island.

Similarly, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has endorsed the Tenerife Island Council’s resolution, released yesterday, which exceptionally activates first-degree measures for forest fire prevention following the forest fire risk alert declared by the Canary Islands Government. This action involves sealing off the fire pits in the Las Mesas Park recreational area.
