SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 13 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Canary Islands Coalition, Socialist Party and Sumar parliamentary factions will officially introduce the proposed amendment to article 35 of the Organic Law on Immigration on Monday. This amendment will enforce the compulsory reception of unaccompanied foreign minors by various autonomous communities as part of a solidarity initiative.

The initiative, championed by the Canary Islands Government and the Spanish Government, aims to ensure the equitable distribution of unaccompanied minors who both reside and arrive in the Canary Islands. The proposal will be deposited at the Congress of Deputies registry at 10:00 a.m. by the parliamentary spokespersons of CC, Cristina Valido; PSOE, Patxi López, and Sumar, Íñigo Errejón.

In attendance will also be the President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, the Minister of Youth and Childhood, Sira Rego, and the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, following their leadership of the Sectoral Conference on Childhood and Adolescence in Tenerife earlier this week.
