SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 11 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Island Administration of Tenerife has commenced the registration process for towns to participate in the 2024 Insular Housing Restoration Programme, which has a budget of 2.4 million euros.
In a statement, Housing Minister Sonia Hernández revealed that the deadline for submissions will be open until July 31.
Through the Insular Housing Restoration Programme, the Cabildo directly provides funding to local councils so they can allocate resources to homeowners lacking adequate financial means and whose residences do not meet minimum living standards.
Hernández emphasises that “the programme also aims to make municipally owned properties that are not fit for use available for rent, allowing the local council to be the final beneficiary of the aid when they allocate the subsidy to finance necessary renovations to bring these properties up to standard, on the condition that the local council pledges to rent out the properties for a minimum of 15 years.”
This time around, “as a new feature, we have decided to extend subsidies to include works related to improving roof waterproofing, as well as connections of domestic wastewater to the municipal sanitation network,” she explains.
Sonia Hernández underlines this advancement, citing the island’s water crisis as a reason for a comprehensive commitment to efficient water management.
The subsidies are allotted directly to each participating municipality in Tenerife before July 31, as part of municipal collaboration, and the ultimate beneficiaries will be individual homeowners or housing communities whose properties do not meet essential living or accessibility standards.
The maximum amount per beneficiary is set at 15,000 euros.
