A commencement of the eco-levy to access the unspoiled areas of the island will be initiated by the Tenerife Council this Friday. This innovative fee system will first be trialled in the Masca gorge located in Buenavista del Norte municipality.
The pricing structure, overseen by the public corporation Tragsa, consists of the following fees:
- Tourist (adult): 28 Euros
- Child tourist: 14 Euros
- Canarian resident (adult): 3 Euros
- Canarian resident child: 1.5 Euros
On the other hand, island residents will be granted free access.
Initiating this Friday, the stipulated fees will commence.
Transport Services
Prohibiting private vehicles’ entry to the vicinity of the gorge by the end of 2024 to early 2025, the Council will introduce a shuttle bus system akin to the one in operation at Punta de Teno.
Although this service falls outside the scope of the eco-fee, it is a chargeable service. In this case:
- Tourists: 10 Euros
- Canarian residents: 4 Euros
- Residents of Tenerife: exempt
Furthermore, the Cabildo and the Buenavista City Council have stipulated a daily cap of 275 individuals.
The island’s institution asserts that the new regulation will enhance the safety of individuals and prevent overcrowding in the area, ultimately contributing to a substantial restoration of its natural and scenic attributes.
