SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 11 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Tenerife Island Council is set to commence the stabilization work on the slopes of Virgen de Candelaria street in Alcalá overlooking Baja Larga beach, located in the municipality of Guía de Isora within the upcoming weeks. This project, which will span over 8 months, will necessitate an investment of €716,531 by the firm Asfaltos y Obras Tafuriaste, SL.

Emphasizing on the significance of the project, the Vice President of the Tenerife Island Council and Minister for Tourism, Lope Afonso, stated, “Enhancements will be made to the conditions, ensuring the safety of both residents and tourists who traverse this avenue daily to experience this coastal gem.”

Referring to it as a longstanding request from Alcalá and subsequently from the City Council of Guía de Isora, Afonso mentioned, “This is an initiative we have embraced as the island authority, underscoring our dedication to also enrich the coastal panorama of Tenerife.”

Afonso further highlighted that this undertaking “intends to stimulate local businesses along Alcalá beach and strike a balance between the tourist and commercial significance of this area, all while preserving its unique character and supporting the local populace.”

The Vice President pointed out that the recent completion of improvement and renovation works on Avenida del Emigrante and Juan Carlos, as well as the restoration of Camino in Punta Blanca, occurred in April.

“These ventures fall under the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union through the Next Generation Funds. These projects have already introduced shaded areas and a makeover of urban infrastructure, thereby reshaping Alcalá into a rejuvenated and appealing destination,” concluded Lope Afonso.
