The City Council of La Laguna, in collaboration with the Autonomous Sports Agency, will set up a large screen in the city centre this coming Sunday, 14th July, to allow citizens to enjoy the Euro Cup final featuring the Spanish national team starting at 8:00 pm.
The screen will be positioned near the La Concepción tower and will measure five by three metres, complete with audio equipment for viewers to follow the match commentary.
The Mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, stated that “similar to the 2010 World Cup, our national team provides us with the chance to integrate the extensive festive schedule planned for the 2024 San Benito Abad Regional Pilgrimage with a momentous event for our sport.”
“Hence, we will give all those in attendance the chance to share this thrilling match with friends and family, on a special day filled with hours of celebrations and traditions in our city,” added the mayor.
On the other hand, the Sports Councillor and President of the Autonomous Sports Body in La Laguna, Badel Albelo, urged citizens “to join in this celebration of Spanish football, following the successful participation in previous occasions when large screens were installed in Hermano Ramón square for historic matches of the La Laguna Tenerife club or Michelle Alonso’s championship wins as an athlete.”
The opponent of the Spanish national team in the upcoming final will emerge from the other semi-final clash between the national teams of England and the Netherlands later today.
