Volcanism: A Gateway to Scientific Collaboration with the African Continent

Creating a connection between Tenerife and the closest continent, geographically, through scientific collaboration on volcanism. This signifies the partnership agreement formalised yesterday between the Island Council and Casa África. The agreement was sealed by the island’s president, Rosa Dávila, and the general director of the state public consortium, José Segura. Segura, a former president of the Corporation (1983-1987), expressed his pride in being part of the collaboration. The Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands (Involcan), a subsidiary entity, and the organisation responsible for liaising with African nations, will transform the agreement into a comprehensive action protocol. This protocol will guide the development of projects focusing on volcanic risk, geotourism, and geothermal energy.
