The position of Director of News Services at Televisión Canaria will now be held by journalist Francisco Luis Quintana (born in Gran Canaria in 1974) following the approval of the general administrator of RTVC, María Méndez. This brings to a close the selection process for the role, conducted in accordance with principles of transparency and public engagement.
Paco Luis Quintana assumed his new role as News Director on Wednesday, succeeding Malole Aguilar, whom he expressed gratitude for her outstanding work during the past four years.
During his official introduction at the editorial offices, the new director emphasised the importance of embracing technological advancements, tackling new content challenges, and enhancing the channel’s presence on social media platforms.
Administrator María Méndez commended Paco Luis Quintana’s “professionalism” and expressed confidence in his ability to “chart a new course” for RTVC, aimed at “expanding Canarian content and devising innovative approaches to engage with the younger audience.”
A graduate of Information Sciences from Complutense University of Madrid, Paco Luis Quintana kickstarted his career at Televisión Canaria upon its establishment in 1999, during which he helmed the channel’s inaugural live broadcast from an external location. With over two decades of experience, he has reported on events in various countries including Cuba, China, Germany, and the United Kingdom, alongside serving as a presenter for different Telenoticias segments.
