Officials from the Civil Guard of the Playa de las Américas Company (Tenerife), supported by officers from the K9 unit of the Adeje Local Police, have apprehended seven individuals on suspicion of engaging in drug trafficking following the dismantling of various drug distribution points that were operating disguised as a Smokers’ Association.
The Civil Guard revealed that upon noticing a significant surge in the establishment of cannabis clubs in the southern region of the island, they launched an operation that uncovered these locations were actually fronts that, under the false veneer of legality provided by being a smokers’ association, were involved in the illicit sale of narcotics like marijuana and hashish.
Over the course of the investigation, incriminating evidence was gathered which eventually led to four search and seizure operations being conducted at clubs exhibiting the aforementioned traits, two in Adeje and two in Arona, resulting in the confiscation of a total of 45 kilograms of marijuana, 3 kilograms of hashish, and €7,000 in cash.
The Civil Guard highlighted that within a storage facility connected to one of the establishments, a sophisticated marijuana cultivation and production lab was discovered with plants in various stages of growth, along with another area where the drugs were cleverly stashed in chests and boxes.
Subsequently, the suspects, along with the evidence and drugs seized, have been handed over to the jurisdiction of Court of Instruction No. 1 of Arona.
