They posed as a Smokers Collective as a cover

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 2nd Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Civil Guard associated with the Playa de las Américas Company (Tenerife), with the assistance of officers from the K9 unit of the Adeje Local Police, have apprehended seven individuals for suspected involvement in a drug trafficking offence subsequent to the dismantling of several drug sales points which were operating under the false pretence of being a Smokers’ Collective.

According to a statement by the Guardia Civil, upon noticing a significant surge in the emergence of cannabis clubs in the south of the island, the authorities initiated an operation.

Consequently, they unveiled that these establishments were actually disguising themselves as legitimate entities, shielded by the guise of a smokers’ association, whilst engaging in the unlawful peddling of narcotic substances like marijuana and hashish.

Over the course of the investigation, which spanned several months, substantial evidence was gathered to execute four raids and searches at clubs exhibiting the aforementioned characteristics, two located in the municipality of Adeje and two in the municipality of Arona, resulting in the confiscation of a collective 45 kilograms of marijuana, 3 kilograms of hashish, and 7,000 euros in cash.

THEY UNEARTHED A CULTIVATION LABORATORY

The Civil Guard emphasised that within a warehouse adjacent to one of the establishments, the officers stumbled upon a well-structured marijuana cultivation and production laboratory, where they found plants at a semi-developed stage, alongside another storage area for the illicit substance meticulously concealed in chests and boxes.

Subsequently, the detained individuals, along with the legal procedures and the confiscated drugs, have been remanded to Court of Instruction No. 1 of Arona.
