Clavijo to Consider Fepeco’s Requests for Easing Bureaucratic Hassles

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 1 July (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Canary Islands’ President, Fernando Clavijo, has examined the requests put forward by the Provincial Federation of Construction Entities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Fepeco) to streamline bureaucratic processes and has committed to reviewing the sector’s suggestions to address this issue.

During a meeting with the leader of Fepeco, Óscar Izquierdo, the head of the Canarian Executive recognised that this is a key focus area for the Government, aimed at enhancing the interaction between the public and the administration while boosting efficiency.

The Canary Islands’ President highlighted that the Government has initiated a drive for regulatory and administrative simplification within Public Administration procedures to achieve a more efficient system. However, he acknowledged that this is not a matter that can be swiftly resolved, even though he recognises its crucial nature for priority objectives such as housing construction in the islands.

On his part, the Fepeco president expressed optimism that the Canary Islands Government “will take the necessary steps to definitively and effectively address delays in the approval and processing of licenses for major projects across different municipalities.”

Fernando Clavijo pledged to review the sector’s recommendations to alleviate bureaucratic obstacles and emphasised the importance of enhancing “efficiency” within the public sector, “engaging public staff and ensuring full legal compliance”, to collectively establish an administration capable of promptly responding to citizens and vital sectors like the construction industry in tackling housing demand in the archipelago.
