SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 1 Jul (EUROPA PRESS) –

Koldo García, former advisor to the ex-Minister of Transport, and Juan Manuel Pérez, the plaintiff in the ‘mask case’, were absent from the Canary Islands Parliament on Monday where the investigation commission on the procurement of medical supplies during the pandemic was scheduled to commence.

Raúl Acosta (AHI), the president of the commission, stated that he had been unable to reach out to the initial two individuals summoned for questioning, neither by conventional methods nor with the assistance of the Canarian Police.

Speaking to the press, he mentioned that the hearings will resume next Monday with the attendance of the rector of Ulpgc, Lluis Serra, and Beatriz González, an expert in Health Economics, both of whom were part of the health emergency committee.

Acosta also revealed that the Socialist Group has withdrawn its request for the appearance of Agustín Manrique de Lara, president of the Círculo de Empresarios de Gran Canaria, and that Carlos Sánchez Muñoz, CEO of ACJ, a company that supplied medical supplies to the SCS during the emergency period, will testify before the commission on 15 Jul after successful communication and rescheduling.

The committee has also decided that in the future, should the summoned persons fail to attend, sessions may be suspended to avoid a repeat of Monday’s inconvenience when travelling deputies were left without an audience.

However, Acosta confirmed that they will persist in summoning Koldo García and Juan Manuel Pérez again, as they are armed with fresh leads following the National Police providing additional addresses of the persons of interest.

“We have a protocol in place; if two notifications through burofax prove unsuccessful, we turn to law enforcement agencies, be it the Canarian Police or the Local Police in areas where we have addresses for the individuals. Thus, with the new addresses provided by the National Police and ongoing investigations resulting from these attempted notifications, we anticipate an increase in successful summonses,” he elaborated.

He also disclosed that the police visited one of Koldo García’s alternative addresses and learned that a “tenant” was residing there who provided another potential address, prompting further efforts to locate him.

“While we await the September schedule, we are unable to issue another summons, yet our pursuit of addresses continues as we work to secure a new date for their appearance,” he emphasised.
