SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 29th June (EUROPA PRESS) –

The extensive search for 19-year-old British tourist Jay Slater, who disappeared on 17th June in Buenavista del Norte (Tenerife), has been ongoing since 9 am this Saturday in the Masca area, involving thirty volunteers from Civil Protection and Firefighters associations.

Sources from the Civil Guard, responsible for coordination, have reported to Europa Press that the search is progressing smoothly despite the challenging terrain, characterized by rugged, rocky landscapes with numerous ravines, trails, and roads.

The search began at Mirador de la Cruz de Hilda (Masca), with a systematic and organized operation which will continue until nightfall.

Despite the deployment of additional resources such as a helicopter, drones, and a team of specialist search dogs from Madrid, the search for Slater has yielded no results after 13 days. The Civil Guard emphasizes that all possibilities are still being considered.

Slater had travelled to Tenerife with two friends for a holiday and a music festival in the south of the island. In the early hours of 16th June, he met two other individuals and accompanied them to a house in Teno Rural Park.

His friends raised the alarm when he went missing, and during their last communication before his phone battery died, Slater mentioned missing the bus, feeling thirsty, and attempting to walk back to his apartment in the south of the island.
