The Municipal Corporation of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, managed by the Mobility and Universal Accessibility department, has arranged for Saturday, 29th June, an enhancement of public transportation, as well as alterations in traffic flow, including specific traffic diversions and parking restrictions, at the entrances to San Sebastián Avenue, the access points to the Heliodoro Rodríguez López and Fernando Barajas Prats/San Sebastián due to the Ed Sheeran concert taking place at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium.
With regards to parking reservations and restrictions, parking will be banned on Heliodoro Rodríguez González Street from 8:00 a.m. until the end of the event on both sides of the street. Parking will also be prohibited at the access gate from 8:00 a.m. until the end of the concert. Additionally, parking on Heliodoro Rodríguez López Street will not be allowed during the same time frame as the previous restrictions, except for a designated parking area for PMR (20 authorized vehicles in the oblique parking spots).
On Lope de Vega Street, on the right-hand side from Garcilaso de la Vega Street to Góngora Street, parking will be forbidden during the same period as the previously mentioned regulations, except for taxis. Lastly, Góngora Street, from the section between Lope de Vega Street to San Sebastián Street on the left-hand side, will have parking restrictions during the same timeframe as the previous measures, except for taxis.
To encourage the utilisation of public transportation, the Municipal Corporation has allowed the unhindered circulation of all taxi licenses between 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, 29th June, and 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, 30th June.
The tram service will increase its availability with three additional services: one between 3:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., and the other two, according to demand, between 4:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
In conjunction with the tram service, the Tenerife Interurban Transport company (Titsa) has also arranged for an increase in the frequencies of lines 934 and 908. Line 934 will have a reinforcement with a service at 11:10 p.m. and will maintain a frequency of every 30 minutes between 9:30 p.m. and 12:00 a.m.
Line 908 will see an increase in frequency to every 15 minutes until 10:00 p.m., after which it will continue to operate every 30 minutes until 11:40 p.m.
The Mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, expressed his gratitude “for the understanding shown by the citizens and the collaborative effort to ensure the success of this event for everyone,” while “urging attendees to arrive early to avoid congestion, adhere to the security personnel’s instructions”, and to opt for public transportation.
The council member for Mobility and Universal Accessibility, Evelyn Alonso, highlighted that “we have implemented all necessary security measures for an event of this scale to not disrupt vehicular and pedestrian traffic, with the adjustments being clearly signposted, delineated, and safeguarded in the occupied and secure areas.”
