SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 26th June (EUROPA PRESS) –

The search for Jay Slater, a young British man who went missing on the 17th of June in Masca, a village in Buenavista del Norte, Tenerife, has entered its tenth day, as reported by official sources from the Civil Guard.

Different units of the Civil Guard are persisting with intensive search efforts both on foot and from helicopters, scouring the rugged terrain including ravines, roads, and paths. Canine agents from the Cynological Service of the Civil Guard are also involved, specialised in search and rescue operations.

A team from Madrid, specialised in large-scale search operations with the assistance of specially trained dogs, has also joined the search for the missing 19-year-old.

The search operation commences early in the day and continues until dusk, halting at nightfall due to visibility issues. Authorities maintain that all possibilities are being considered in their search efforts.

The operation includes agents from the Cynological Service, the Special Mountain Intervention and Rescue Group (GREIM), Civil Protection volunteers, drones, and a helicopter. The focus of the search is primarily on the Masca ravine and the steep areas surrounding Buenavista del Norte.

Jay Slater had travelled to Tenerife with two friends for a holiday trip, attending a music festival in the south of the island. In the early hours of Sunday, 16th June, he left with two other individuals to a house in Teno Rural Park.

Concerns were raised by his friends when he went missing, with the last contact indicating that he had missed the bus, was thirsty, and was attempting to walk back to his apartment in the south of the island before his phone battery died.
