SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 25th June (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Government of Tenerife and the LGBTIQ+ communities have reignited connections and are initiating a new phase in the quest for diversity.

The head of the island administration, Rosa Dávila, accompanied by the island’s Equality and Diversity director, Patricia León, convened a meeting this Monday with representatives from the CanaryPride groups; Opening; Libertans, Diversas, and Chrysallis.

Following the meeting, Dávila expressed contentment with the harmonious relations with the groups and emphasised the “dedication shown by the Tenerife Government in continuing to progress in rights and equality.”

Similarly, León underscored the significance of collaborating closely and cohesively because “there is a substantial amount to accomplish in safeguarding diversity, and it falls upon public entities and administrations to engage in this cause.”

This encounter aligns with the festivities commemorating LGBTIQ+ Pride Day scheduled for this Friday, under the slogan ‘Pride opens doors, don’t close them’.

The ‘Pride Day’ campaign encompasses a variety of events aimed at fostering awareness and visibility for LGBTIQ+ individuals.

Primarily, a campaign has been initiated that involves 24 posters on the tram routes in Santa Cruz of Tenerife, La Laguna, El Sauzal, Tacoronte, Los Realejos, Arafo, Tegueste, Granadilla de Abona, Los Abrigos, San Isidro, and Puerto de la Cruz.

Furthermore, a total of 7 LED screens have been set up at various locations across the island territory, alongside a digital campaign on social media, as indicated in a statement from the Government.

Additionally, a notable feature among the planned activities is the installation of a canvas featuring the campaign’s poster image.

Moreover, an arch symbolising diversity has been erected at the entrance to the Tenerife Government premises, showcasing the campaign slogan and acting as a platform for the community groups to convey their message on Pride Day.

Concurrently, the Museum of Nature and Archeology (Muna) will host the ‘Festivalullo with pride’ on 30th June, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., led by Daniasa Curbelo as the presenter and host; Izaskun Legarza, who will conduct a ‘Literary Encounter’; Omayra Cazorla with ‘I Was Hetero Too’, and Ida Susal, who will put on a ‘Full Formation Concert’.

Entry will be free until reaching a capacity of 200 individuals.
