The CC-PNC will also propose that the Ministry and Coasts be urged to “carry out an in-depth study of the state of the Playa Jardín breakwater and that the necessary actions be carried out to guarantee the safety of the beach. And that, in addition, it is done taking into account and listening to the group of surfers.
The municipal CC-PNC spokesperson, former mayor Sandra Rodríguez, also urges “to study how to return the accumulated sand on the breakwater to the beach” and to remove, “with the necessary permits”, the rocks that the sea has deposited on the beach “to improve its image and conditions of use.”
Rodríguez adds that Playa Jardín «has always been an exceptional place for surfing in the city, even before the works that gave its name to this enclave of the city were carried out, when we were still talking about Playa del Castillo, El Charcón and María Jiménez ».
«Since the placement of the breakwater, the useful surface for the practice of this sport has been significantly reduced, but it has not for this reason ceased to be a meeting point and venue for surfing competitions, the last of which was held in 2015 “, remember. “Currently there are more than thirty surfers who choose our beach to practice this sport, and there could be many more,” says the mayor of CC-PNC, who these days has met “with regular surfers in the area of the Castillo who have conveyed to us their concern about the problems of the breakwater ».
