The Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is seeking a five-year prison sentence for an art teacher accused of sexually abusing a minor student whom he taught in a studio on the island.

According to the accusation, on one occasion, while at the minor’s residence where he also taught her two siblings, the teacher took advantage of the “trusted relationship” he had with her. He entered the room where the minor was watching a movie and lay down on the bed next to her. At that moment, he removed her clothing and committed the abuses in various areas of her body, including the genital areas.

The Prosecutor’s Office considers these acts to be a sexual abuse offence against a minor under 16 years of age. In addition to the prison sentence, a five-year probation, a ban on approaching the victim within 500 metres, participation in sexual education programmes, disqualification from working with minors for ten years, and payment of a €6,000 compensation are requested.

The trial is scheduled for next Monday at 09:45 at the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
