The Tenerife Island Council promoted in Madrid the island as the best outdoor set for shooting major audiovisual productions. The most prominent production companies in the international market showed a special interest in the investment details, opportunities, and experiences Tenerife can offer. The Delegation of the Canary Islands Government in Madrid hosted this first meeting with Spain’s main audiovisual companies and platforms, where Tenerife showcased its benefits as a destination and infrastructure for the sector.
The event was attended by the Vice President and Tourism Councillor of the Island, Lope Afonso; the Insular Director of External Action, Pedro González; as well as the Legal Department Director of the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Silvia Rodríguez, Technicians from the Tenerife Film Commission, Special Canary Zone, and Proexca, integrated in the platform Why Tenerife?.
The more than 40 representatives from present audiovisual production platforms showed a particular interest in the opportunities opening up for the audiovisual sector since “the tax benefits, locations, connections, and infrastructure make Tenerife a very attractive investment destination,” explained Afonso.
In his opinion, this industry “is a strategic sector for the economic diversification of the island, which aims to become the major audiovisual reference in Spain.” All this reaffirms Tenerife as the best destination for hosting major audiovisual productions in the film, TV series, and animation fields, “where we are a benchmark thanks to the Quirino Awards.”
The Insular Director of Foreign Action, Pedro González, expressed satisfaction at “the opportunity this meeting offers us to attract investment and diversify Tenerife’s economy.”
