The La Laguna Cultural Heritage Council presented the exciting launch of open days at Anchieta House, a remarkable initiative offering a journey back to the 16th century through engaging guided tours with actors portraying key historical figures, including the father of the first Lagunero saint.

During the event, media representatives were given a sneak peek of the initiative, joined by Adolfo Cordobés, the Councilor for Cultural Heritage, Nacho Almenar from Burka Teatro, and historian Néstor Verona.

Adolfo Cordobés highlighted the significance of incorporating Casa Anchieta into the cultural heritage of Laguneros, especially during the 490th anniversary of Father Anchieta’s birth and the tenth anniversary of his canonization. Opening the doors of this historical house, where his identity was shaped, is a fitting tribute.

The open house programme is scheduled from the 24th to the 30th of this month, featuring 18 complimentary guided tours. The house will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with hourly tours every day except Thursday. Additionally, on Sunday, morning tours will be available between 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. with sessions at 10:30 a.m., 11:45 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. Each tour will accommodate up to 30 participants on a first-come, first-served basis, with three sessions also offering sign language interpretation.

Cordobés emphasised that Casa Anchieta will serve as the first interpretation centre in the Canary Islands dedicated to Father Anchieta and his era, featuring a model co-created with various specialized institutions, local and international organisations, and community groups through the Municipal Heritage Council.
