SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 18th June (EUROPA PRESS) –
The governor of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, unveiled on Tuesday the IV Museum ‘La Puerta Violeta-Viviendo el Arte’, an initiative from the Early Childhood and Primary Education Centre (CEIP) La Verdellada, in Tenerife. The project delves into the realm of art, highlighting diversity and fairness as essential learning tools for the students.
The exhibition showcases various artists studied by the pupils of the Lagunero school throughout the academic year, presented through theatrical reenactments. The display also includes original creations by students from all educational levels of the centre (preschool, primary, and Enclave classroom) inspired by the artistic styles they have studied.
Social and emotional growth of the students is fostered inclusively in this school in La Laguna through the art and fairness programme. The project ‘La Puerta Violeta. Living Art as a Family’ aims for comprehensive education, using art as a means for children to gain independence and shape their personal identity.
This educational venture aims to combine knowledge of various artists, movements, and styles with nurturing creativity, appreciation for cultural expression in all forms, and fostering gender equality.
With two hours of art workshops each week, integrated as a core subject in their curriculum, the project seeks to have a positive impact on the intellectual, social, and creative development of all students.
Each school year, around a dozen influential figures in art history from different eras are chosen, with a particular emphasis on the work of women, alongside some references to Canarian art, adding a regional touch to the island’s cultural legacy.
This initiative serves as a connection to other programmes implemented by CEIP La Verdellada following its educational approach. The complete involvement of the educational community and equality are essential elements of the school’s pedagogical ethos, evident in activities like The Inclusion Games or the Verdecoro project. The latter focuses on nurturing and validating the emotional development of students through music, involving the selection of songs that serve as the project’s theme and core.
