VALVERDE (EL HIERRO), 18th June (EUROPA PRESS) –
The fire outbreak reported on Tuesday afternoon in a challenging access area in Las Barranqueras, located in Valverde municipality, has now been declared under control, as stated by the Island Operational Coordination Center (Cecopin) of the Cabildo de El Hierro.
The fire has ravaged approximately 1,000 square meters of prickly pear and grassland, and the GES helicopter of the Government of the Canary Islands is still conducting water drops in the affected zone, according to the latest update from the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (Cecoes) 1-1-2.
Following the incident, the Island Operational Coordination Center (Cecopin) mobilized; council personnel; a GES helicopter; the Intervention and Reinforcement Teams in Forest Fires (EIRIF) of the Government of the Canary Islands; and the Civil Guard.
Meanwhile, the Government of the Canary Islands has emphasised that the islands are on alert due to the forest fire risk.
