The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has given the green light to a proposal to engage a service that includes a parking capacity monitoring system for the Las Teresitas beachand interactive displays to provide information to drivers.
This tender was approved on Monday by the council’s board to procure supplies and services aimed at raising awareness and supporting sustainable transport in the coastal tourist area, with a budget totaling 331,699 Euros.
This initiative, which encompasses the provision of “dynamic” signage technology, is part of a special call for tourism sustainability initiatives in destinations, thanks to funding from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan backed by Next Generation resources.
The council’s goal with this tender is to acquire real-time automated data on parking availability in the designated areas, and to communicate this information to residents and visitors through signage and online services.
Through this project, the City Council aims to enhance mobility using technological resources, alleviate traffic congestion caused by the search for parking spots, reduce congestion and its associated negative impacts, cut down travel times for residents and visitors, and more.
The objective also includes enhancing access to services around Las Teresitas beach, improving urban environmental quality indicators, enhancing social quality of life indicators for local residents, and promoting the municipality as an innovative tourist destination.
The procurement will be divided into three components: the first will cover the study and design of a sustainable transport system in the coastal tourist area, the second will focus on raising awareness and promoting sustainable transport in the same area.
The third component will involve the delivery and implementation of a system to monitor parking availability at Las Teresitas beach, as well as providing and installing interactive signs to inform drivers.
