SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 18th June (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Canarian Police, through the Tenerife Citizen Security Group, arrested a man last Thursday on suspicion of domestic violence in La Laguna.
The officers, who were in the vicinity for another incident, responded to a woman’s cry for help from a window of her house after allegedly being assaulted by a man inside.
Upon arrival at the apartment’s entrance, the officers heard a commotion between the woman and the man, with the woman stating that he was preventing her from opening the door to let them in. Both individuals were separated, and each was interviewed by the officers.
The woman revealed that the man was her partner and had attacked her upon entering the house, taking her mobile phone. On the other hand, the man claimed he entered the house to report the woman, alleging that she was harboring two minors under a search and detention order at CIEM Valle Tabares.
A police unit escorted the woman to the nearest health facility for examination and then to the police station, where she filed a formal complaint along with a medical report.
Simultaneously, another unit detained the man, informed him of his rights verbally and in writing, and escorted him to the hospital for treatment of a fractured right hand. After being discharged, he was taken to the police station for further proceedings at the Women’s Violence Court.
The suspect did not have any court order against him, but he had a previous police record for suspected domestic violence involving a different individual.
