The Public Services Councillor of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, Carlos Tarife, has once again postponed his chair initiative aimed at ensuring that residents of the municipality dispose of their waste properly.
Tarife first announced this plan on May 21, setting a start date for Tuesday, May 28, when he planned to monitor various areas of Santa Cruz to tackle the issue of 28 illegal dumping sites.
Initially, Añaza and Ofra were to be the first neighbourhoods where the councillor would interact with offenders, guiding them to the location of waste containers alongside a Public Services inspector and the Local Police.
However, the initiative was delayed after a large tree branch fell on a tourist in García Sanabria Park. The City Council then mentioned they would await the tourist’s recovery before scheduling a new campaign start date.
This Monday, June 17, was supposed to mark the campaign’s continuation, but Carlos Tarife has once again decided to postpone it “indefinitely.”
